Landsberg Curia

The Landsberg Palace was a noble palace in Münster at Pferdegasse 3. It currently houses the Geological-Paleontological Museum of the University of Münster.
The noble court was built from 1702 to 1707 by Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius for Franz Kaspar Ferdinand von Landsberg zu Erwitte. Planned as a Baroque court, it showcases the characteristic form of the strictly symmetrical three-winged layout with an honor courtyard, typical for Münster. The central risalit is gabled. The central building served as the residence of the host, consisting of a bedroom, study, changing room, and dining room. Additionally, an archive was housed there. The side wings accommodated the servants and stables. There was also a brewery and a carriage house available. In 1851, the Geological-Paleontological Museum moved into the premises. The building was heavily damaged during World War II but was able to be rebuilt. Today, it serves the University of Münster as an exhibition building for the Geological-Paleontological Museum, as offices and workspaces for institute staff, and as a lecture hall building.
