Rondeel Canal

The Rondeelkanal is a canal that was excavated in the marshy meadows on the northeast bank of the Außenalster lake in the state of Hamburg between 1861 and 1891 when the rural village of Winterhude was urbanized. According to the law on the classification of surface waters of the state of Hamburg, it is a first-category watercourse and thus accessible to the public.
From north to south, it connects the Leinpfadkanal to the Außenalster. Most of the banks, except for a stretch at Bellevue Street, were integrated into the gardens of the surrounding villas. The canal can only be visited by boat or canoe.
