Description par l'auteur

The Baruther Glassworks and Surroundings - Industrial Culture in the Urstrom Valley. This bike tour through the Baruther Urstromtal opens up geological, cultural-historical and industrial-cultural exciting places. The route includes important tourist stops at the Baruther Glashütte Museum Village and the Johannismühle Wildlife Park. Although the Urstromtal, unlike its geologically older siblings in Berlin and Eberswalde, was not developed with canals and industrialized, the Museum Village Baruther Glashütte is nevertheless an industrial-cultural highlight. Picnic and playground areas, dunes, meadows and the bush moat make the course interesting for families as well.

The tour starts at the parking lot in the Museum Village Baruther Glashütte. Glashütte is a listed ensemble of workers' houses and factory buildings. In the stately "Neue Hütte", the intangible cultural heritage of manual glass production is preserved. Along the Fläming skate it goes on to Klasdorf, which shows up after leaving the little forest on the left behind the fields. In Klasdorf you follow the main road further to the monument station Klasdorf. Music concerts are held here regularly. Every two years the culture team puts on a jazz festival on the track. Track change - To get to the opposite side, you can carry your bike over the pedestrian bridge or use the road to bypass. As an extension of the pedestrian bridge, an asphalt road takes you to the Johannismühle Wildlife Park. Where once a sawmill of the Baruth dominion rattled and later Soviet officers went hunting, today, scenically embedded in the Fläming slope, is the game park. After a visit to the game park, the route leads back in the direction of Klasdorf train station and continues on the well-maintained bike path along the B 96 to Baruth. At the traffic circle, take the first exit into the town and there, at the second crossroads on the left, you will reach the small town museum, which has exhibits on the history of crafts, administration and schools. Archaeological finds from the Middle Ages are also presented. A beautiful playground invites you to take a short break. Only a few meters further on the combined bike-pedestrian path is the Baruth church. By arrangement, you can also climb the tower and catch a view of the Baruther Urstromtal from above. The design of the "church square" is a reminder of the fighting in April 1945, when half of the building fabric in Baruth was lost. From the post office column for the path continues in a northerly direction. The large open space offers a beautiful view of the castle grounds and the park behind it.
Continue along the B 96 on the combined bike-pedestrian path. To stay on the main route, which leads back to Glashütte via Dornswalde, turn right over the bridge. If you are still fit enough, you can continue straight ahead on the bike path along the B 96 in a northerly direction for a detour to the wood competence center. In Mückendorf the cycle path changes to the other side of the road. When crossing the bridge, there is a wide view of the impressive Wood Competence Center. Wood products are shipped all over the world from Baruth. Turn right across the tracks and continue between the individual plants. Take the first exit at the traffic circle and turn left at the next traffic circle. Now you are back on the main route. Continue on the cycle path alongside the road in the direction of Dornswalde. About 1 km after the Brand forester's lodge, the tour turns right onto a concrete slab path. After a few hundred meters, behind a small embankment, you will find the water surface of the pumping station. An excellent resting place for waterfowl and for all those on the discovery tour. The pumping station was shut down in the course of the renaturation of the Urstromtal and the Buschgraben (Rietze). It served to regulate water in the course of melioration, which was to enable better field management on the wet meadows. Continue to follow the flagstone path. Soon you will reach the western Glashütte parking lot. At the end of the parking lot you can see the museum village on your left.
