Ruhrhaldenweg, Stage 08: Beeck - Landschaftspark-Nord - Oberhausen

The Ruhrhaldenweg is a 580 km long long-distance hiking trail that connects the hills, garden cities, and former mines of the Ruhr metropolis. A network of footpaths, towing paths, small and large roads, converted railway tracks, and hill paths leads you through the entire Ruhr area, from Moers and Duisburg in the west to Dortmund and Bergkamen in the east.
This eighth stage passes through some newly designed green areas along the canalized Emscher and then into the Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord. The 200-hectare park is located on the site of the former Thyssen steelworks; from the top of the blast furnace, you have a wide view. Further along, you reach the Rhein-Herne Canal and along the beautiful garden areas of Liricher Straße and Gustavstraße, you arrive at the former Altenberg zinc factory, now an industrial museum. The Oberhausen train station is just a stone's throw away.
