The traces of the Knights Templar dot this path full of geological mysteries and legends. One can understand how these monk knights shaped their space and the forest. Yellow pedestrian markings
(D/A) Rue de la Héronnière, opposite the Maison de la Nature de Boult-aux-Bois, turn right from the starting panel towards the RD947 that crosses the village. At the intersection, turn left, pass in front of the basket maker's shop, go up the street and continue towards the former stronghold of the Commander. Information panel no. 1 at the level of the former stronghold Continue on this street and go straight up to the Domanial forest. Enter the woods and continue straight up.
(1) At the top of the hill, at the place called Jardin Gascon, admire the view and continue on the small path that goes to the left. A few dozen meters further, the very first encounter with the Templar ditch that will be followed for a large part of the walk. Information panel no. 2 Continue on this path always straight ahead.
(2) At the intersection, turn left around the first stone of the Templar ditch. Information panel no. 3 Continue following the boundary of the Domanial forest. A descent leads to a small stream that must be crossed. After the stream, continue until the intersection with a parcel path, turn right then left immediately after. Follow the ascent in the Templar ditch straight up to the plateau.
(3) At the intersection, go straight at the level of the Templar ditch. The path then descends to the Fontaine aux Grès. Continue always straight along the ditch.
(4) At the Fontaine aux Grès, turn left and walk along the Templar ditch. Continue straight on this narrow path. Information panel no. 4 Pass at the place called La Blanche Borne and keep the ditch on your left. Information panel no. 5
(5) Arriving at the forest road of Grand Colas, continue straight by turning right, proceeding to the departmental road D947. Be very careful when crossing to catch the forest path on the other side.
(6) At the intersection go straight in the ditch in front. Continue always straight in the ditch. Once at another intersection go straight to reconnect with the ditch. After two bends in the ditch, descend. At a new intersection, head North-Northwest by turning slightly left. Then catch up with the Templar ditch at the bottom of a climb.
(7) After the climb, at the place called Les Mallasises. At the intersection, turn left and go straight to the forest road of Mariage. Information panel no. 6 Cross the forest road of Mariage and go straight to recover the Templar ditch. Always walk in the ditch, make a long descent then a long ascent. Branch left while staying in the ditch, descend again.
(8) Exit the ditch and turn right on the path to follow it. Make a climb, continue straight then descend to the forest road below.
(9) Once you reach the forest road leading to the Dauphin du Gros Chêne, turn left on it and walk 500m then turn right to enter the woods again. Visit the Dauphin and continue straight on the parcel path. Cross a stream and continue straight ahead.
(10) From this point, the small path idyllically borders the meadow and stream. Head left towards Boult aux Bois along the stream and its meanders until the exit of the woods.
(11) At the forest road, turn right towards the Gros Chêne where a picnic area is set up then take a small path on the right, following it straight ahead.
(12) At the crossroads keep heading towards Boult aux Bois heading North-Northeast. Leave the woods by catching up with a white path and join the village by passing near a stream and a hunting cabin.
(13) Turn right on Rue de la Héronnière. The Maison de la Nature is now in sight.
