PR 118 "Nature and Renaissance"

1 - Facing the tourist office [ > Place Saint Benoît], turn right, descend into the cobbled street of La Chevée, [ > porch of the Poterne], continue through the suburb of Gauilly to reach the D 643.

2 - Cross it, continue on the street of Grand Vaux and follow the path along the Othain. After 850 m, turn right, cross the footbridge. Continue left, then left again through the woods and along the Othain for 1.2 km (be attentive to the signage). Before the dam, turn right and climb up the stony path.

3 - Continue left (be sure to follow the signage). After 900 m, emerge onto a field and turn left. Continue for 4.8 km following the meanders of the Othain. Pass by a picnic area and arrive at the calvary and Othe via the Wallons path.

4 - Turn left onto the rue du Fort for 100 m, leave the church on your left and turn right onto the Grand Rue for 500 m. At the T-junction, turn left onto the D 207a and arrive at Bazeilles-sur-Othain. Go down left onto the rue de la Roche, cross the bridge over the Othain and ascend onto the rue Haute. At the calvary, take the small road left for 1 km. At the edge of the woods, continue straight, leave the Haut-Mont farm to the right and after 160 m take the left path.

5 - After 1.8 km, arrive at Flassigny, turn right onto the Grande Rue then onto the rue de la Petite Ville, direction Marville. At the chapel, in the bend, leave the road and ascend left via the stony path for 2.2 km. It crosses the ridge, descends the slope and arrives at the junction of the ossuary.

6 - Climb right for 300 m [ > Saint-Hilaire cemetery and ossuary (visit), viewpoint]. Exit the site and after 30 m, turn right and descend to the D 643. Cross it (caution), then take straight ahead the rue Bel Air and then left onto the rue de Flassigny, continue on the rue du Tripot, the Grande Rue and arrive at the starting point.
