This walk can be started at the train station (about 1 km round trip to the access road) or from one of the two car parks. During this hike, which mostly crosses the Grünewald, you will pass by a large archaeological site that is located underground. It is an artificial water source from Roman times. About thirty-five pits are dug into the rock and connected by a 600 m long main tunnel and accessory galleries. Groundwater for Roman villas was collected here. On our way we also find the foundations of a large Roman palace at the foot of the "Sonnebierg" in Helmsange (around 30 BC), which is now partially restored. In addition, this hike offers a magnificent view of Walferdange and the surrounding villages.
