This route connects the two music tents of the villages of Leersum and Austerlitz and goes through the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. Viewpoints, nature and history are the keywords for this walk in the series from Village to Village.
The route starts at the Kerkplein behind the Michaëlkerk in Leersum. Before we left the village, two highlights have already been visited: the Owl Tower and the Tomb of Nellesteijn. Along Huize Broekhuizen it first continues west of Leersum through the transition area between the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the lower Kromme Rijn area. Just before Doorn, the Heuvelrug is climbed with the reward of the beautiful views from the viewing tower of the Kaapse Bossen. There are also two historic houses: Huis te Maarn and huis Stameren. Lots of nature this tour with a former asparagus field on the 't Heihuis estate and the sand drift on the Bornia estate.
