Via the valley of the Geul van Epen to Sippenaken

This route follows the stream "de Geul" upstream through a beautiful valley from Epen to Sippenaken .

Although Epen is very popular with walkers, there is little to see in the beautiful region around Sippenaken. A missed opportunity because it is fantastic there too ... If you want, you can do an extra loop of 2.5 km by stepping to the Gerardushoeve in Eperheide at the end (beautiful view of the valley).

From the public car park next to the private car park of the Winbergerhoeve , you first pass the Volmolen and then continue through the valley of the Geul. No narrow paths but a walk through the wide valley where the Geul winds up to Sippenaeken. Because we cross the border near Sippenaken we come across a number of border posts . In Sippenaken there is plenty of opportunity for a snack and a drink in Auberge le barbeau or a little further on in bistro le soigneur . The walk then follows the valley of the Geul downstream through some picturesque hamlets with a beautiful view of the castle of Beusdael. The route ends again along the banks of the Geul where you can have a bite to eat in the typical café/hotel "De Smidse" and enjoy the phenomenal view.
