AzureThis route takes you to the western part of the Hoogeland. The western part of the Hoogeland is the region above the Reitdiep. One of the oldest cultural landscapes in the Netherlands, because 600 years before Christ the first inhabitants already settled in this coastal area. To keep the feet dry, mounds were raised and the historic churches still stand at the highest point. Beautiful views and friendly villages alternate. The fertile clay soil still attracts new residents, because a vegetable garden, that's what good it wants here!
