City tour through Breda

A 3-kilometer city walk through Breda along the main monuments, the most beautiful courtyards, and the most famous shopping streets.

During the walk, you will see many dining establishments.

This route may possibly be covered with an electric wheelchair.

The sidewalks are generally wide and mainly consist of regular paving stones, with occasional pieces of polished cobblestones (cobble) present.

While walking, you will pass by many listed churches; I have included three hidden churches in the route.

A hidden church (actually a house church) is a church building that is not recognizable as such from the outside, which was used during the time of the Republic of the United Netherlands by Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, Remonstrant, Lutheran, and Anabaptist communities. Such hidden churches were widespread across large parts of the Netherlands.

In cities, hidden churches were usually housed in homes and warehouses, while in the countryside, a church typically resembled a barn and was therefore also referred to as a barn church.
