Begin your exploration of the city at the Grand Place where many facades date from the 17th and 18th centuries and where you can admire the neoclassical City Hall and the Romanesque St. Sulpitius Church. Next, climb the steps to the Citadel. In addition to a beautiful view of the city, you will be treated to a chunk of military history. The Citadel is the final piece of Diest's transformation into a fortified town and is the only remaining brick one in Flanders.
