With this road bike route, I am happy to take you in a northeastern direction, starting from Roeselare to Moerbrugge; of course, you can join anywhere you wish.

The road bike route begins at the familiar Stroroute in Roeselare. This route takes you through various picturesque villages, wooded areas, and historic chapels, offering a perfect mix of sporting challenge and cultural experience.

You start the ride through the quiet villages of De Ruiter and Most, where the rural atmosphere of West Flanders welcomes you. The route then leads you to the Huwyns forests, a dense wooded area known for its winding paths and shaded trails. This is an ideal place to take a breather and enjoy the tranquility of nature.

After the Huwyns forests, you continue towards Veldkapelle, also known as Carrons Chapel or Sint-Annakapel. This historic chapel is a lovely spot to pause and take in the peaceful surroundings. The route then continues to Zeswege, a small village where you can still feel the authentic rural atmosphere.

Afterwards, the route takes you through the beautiful Lake forests, a wooded area where you are completely surrounded by greenery. Here, you pass the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, a special place hidden among the trees. A little further along, you come across Raepenburg Castle, an imposing château that provides a beautiful contrast to the natural surroundings. The paths in this region are quiet and give you an authentic feeling of Flemish nature.

The route continues through the Kampveld, a beautiful nature reserve known for its open spaces and lush greenery. After that, you pass some bunkers that remind you of the military past of the region as you ride along the Moerbrugge canal. This waterway offers a picturesque route with serene, flat roads that are ideal for maintaining a steady pace.

From Moerbrugge, you head east towards Sint-Joris. This part of the route is slightly more challenging due to the longer straights and open spaces that invite you to ride a bit faster. Once in Sint-Joris, you return towards Roeselare, where you ride through the green landscapes again.

On the way back, you pass the Vagevuurbäume, a wooded area with a mystical atmosphere and winding paths. Then, you ride past Gulke Putten, a picturesque moorland where nature runs free. These areas offer a quiet, almost meditative experience after the challenging ride on the way out.

The route takes you further through Sint-Jan, a small village where you can catch a glimpse of local culture. Afterwards, you pass the impressive broadcasting mast of Egem, a notable landmark in the flat landscape. This mast accompanies you as you continue on to the next destinations.

You approach Koolskamp, a village known for its agricultural traditions and charming streets. The route then traverses the Ardooie Field, an expansive area that is ideal for cyclists who enjoy long, straight roads. The landscape here offers a beautiful variety of open fields and wooded strips.

The final section takes you through the village of Spanje, a surprising piece of Flanders with its unique name. After that, you ride through the Sterrebos, a small but beautiful forest that is particularly a joy to the eye in autumn. Finally, you return to the Stroroute in Roeselare, where you close the loop and your ride comes to an end.

Difficulty: Moderate, primarily flat roads with some gentle inclines. The route offers a nice mix of quiet nature reserves and small villages, making it suitable for cyclists who love variety.
