Tent WE 1 - Bossuit - Camping Hirondelle 159Km

This varied Vespa route takes us from Bossuit to Oteppe, in the province of Liège. It’s not a quick connecting ride over major traffic arteries, but a beautiful journey along quiet back roads, rural villages, and various characterful regions of Wallonia.

We depart from the Vespabar in Bossuit and ride through Outrijve towards Ronse. From there, we cross the rolling landscape of the Flemish Ardennes and the Pays des Collines. The winding roads, open fields, and beautiful panoramas ensure a pleasant start to our ride.

After about 34.6 kilometers, we reach Lessen for our first short drink and bathroom break. We then continue our way along quiet Walloon roads towards Edingen, Rebecq, and Ronquières. Along the way, the landscape gradually changes: the hills of the Pays des Collines give way to the open and rural character of Hainaut and Walloon Brabant.

Around kilometer 83 we arrive at Panos in Nivelles, where those who wish can buy something for lunch. About one kilometer further, we stop in a park to leisurely eat our self-brought or just purchased sandwich.

After our lunch, we leave Nivelles and seek out the quieter rural roads again. Via Sart-Dames-Avelines and Corroy-le-Château, we continue towards Gembloux. This section leads us through a predominantly green and agricultural landscape, with small villages, open fields, and pleasant back roads.

Around kilometer 118, we stop at Brasserie de Bertinchamps. At this beautiful location, we take some time for a drink before starting the last part of our outward journey.

From Bertinchamps, we continue through the vast Walloon landscape. Through quiet roads and small villages, we gradually head towards Wanze and finally Oteppe, where our destination lies.

The complete route is about 159 kilometers. It is primarily intended as a pleasant and touristy outward journey, where driving and the landscape are at least as important as the destination.
