BUBBLE TOUR from Hekelgem to the papeters of Essene

Elaborated on the walking network Brabantse kouters.

We walk from Hekelgem to Essene where for four decades the Saint Anthony Guild has been watching over the preservation of this religious tradition.

Route description 7.8 km

With the church behind us we leave the parking lot on the Kasteelstraat on the left, after 150 m you will find WKP (walking junction) 104. Then follow WKP 105 > 107 > 111. Past the football fields we cross the Moortselstraat and we continue to follow WKP 111 . Attention: at the T in the Lombeekstraat (at house no. 45) we turn left and leave the walking network. At the crossroads we cross diagonally to the Boonhof until the next T where we turn left. From here we follow towards WKP 109 and the long and the shorter walk run together again. Attention: past the church of Essene we leave the walking network and with the church to our right, in the Assestraat we continue our way, straight ahead. Before the cemetery of Essene we turn left and are again on the hiking network and follow: WKP 108 > 106 > 105> 104, then 150 m straight on until we reach the car park.

Route description extension 10 km

With the church behind us we leave the parking lot on the left at the kasteelstraat, after 150 m you will find WKP 104. Then follow 105 > 107 > 111 > 110 > 109. Attention: past the church of Essene we leave the walking network and with the church to our right, in the Assestraat we continue our way, straight ahead. Before the cemetery of Essene we turn left and are again on the hiking network and follow: WKP 108 > 106 > 105 > 104, then 150 m straight on until we reach the car park.

Departure: Kasteelstraat 8 Hekelgem (Affligem)

Car and bicycle parking: there is a spacious parking for cars, the bicycles can be parked along the side of the church

Distance: 7.8 km / 40% paved Extension 10.2 km / 30% paved.
