SDC02 Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée-Ouarville

Second leg from Oekene (Roeselare) to Santiago de Compostela: from Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée to Ouarville, 163 kilometers and 1561 meters of elevation. The first part is quite hilly, the second part is gently rolling.

You start still in the region Picardy, department 'de l'Oise' with some climbs and a few descents, including through the valley of 'le Thérain' and l'Avelon', reaching the highest point of the ride after 23 km: 223 m of elevation.

After riding for a while through a part of the region Normandy, department 'd'Eure', you successively enter the departments val d'Oise and Yvelines which are part of the region Île de France, which also includes Paris. It continues up and down through the regional natural park of the Vexin français to beautifully Mantes-la-Jolie, after 80 km, crossing over the 'Seine'. The valley of the 'Seine' is quite cut in, so first a long descent down to it and then back out of the valley with a climb of about 4 km. Upon entering Mantes-la-Jolie, you have a good view of 'la Collégiale Notre-Dame', a beautiful Gothic church from the 12th and 13th centuries.

In Epernon, you enter the region Centre-Val de Loire, department Eure-et-Loir. This last stretch is noticeably flatter. We pass Paris on the west side.

Ouarville is a village with about 550 inhabitants and is located approximately 10 km southeast of Chartres, belonging to the arrondissement of Chartres.
