We did this circular hike on January 11, 2022, and started it counterclockwise. It was a good decision. At the beginning of the hike, you walk about 2.5 km parallel to the A7 motorway, then you dive into the city forests, which are interspersed with car-free roads.
We had a bit of bad luck with the fog, but still had a more or less beautiful view of the castles of 'Birtrange' and 'Colmar-Berg'.
Birtrange Castle is a castle in Birtrange, Schieren, Germany. It is located on the left bank of the Alzette. On August 10, 2017, it was listed as a national monument in the list of classified monuments. Unfortunately, it is not open to visitors.
The Château de Berg (German: Schloss Berg) is located in the municipality of Colmar-Berg in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Click here for more information
The last kilometers of the hike lead through the valley of Kiselbaach, which flows into the Alzette at Schieren.
