Boekelo Railway Museum

Between Haaksbergen and the village of Boekelo there is a 125-year-old railway track that crosses the wonderful landscape of Twente. You get an authentic picture of the days long gone when Twente still transported coal, salt, various goods and passengers by rail. The MBS Railway Museum Boekelo shares its precious memories of classic chassis and locomotives as well as a station from 1884 with a turntable for horizontal rotation of rail vehicles and an assembly hall with its visitors. The train drivers, firefighters and conductors are all authentically dressed in the traditional old style. The MBS Railway Museum Boekelo organises various events such as train rides with lunch or dinner, the autumn steam day and the winter "Stamppot" ride (Stamppot is typical Dutch mashed potatoes). To the delight of young train lovers, there are the Lego Train Days and Thomas the steam locomotive also seems to be a regular visitor to the museum!
