Along the Veluwe Sand Sculptures

A very beautiful and very varied cycling route from Putten over the Veluwe.

With this route you get various inspirations for a day of entertainment in this area.

The route starts and ends at junction 20 in Putten.

From Putten you can drive straight into the woods via the Postweg. The first highlight is after junction 79, the sheepfold on the Ermelose heath. A nice coffee stop. Then we cycle along the Ermelose heath.

The next highlight is Staverden Castle, Staverden Estate. Here we find the visitor center, landscape shop Staverden and the craft beer brewery Uddelaer. There is also a brasserie here. Tip: covered wagon tour (De Lindeboom), children can lead the way if they want. They drive standard with 2 coachmen. Book through VVV Ermelo. (7 euro pp, children 3.50)

Continuing cycling through a varied environment we arrive in Garderen. Time for an ice cream at ice cream parlour IJstijd Garderen.

From here the route leads to the Veluwe Sand Sculptures and Sculpture Garden.

This is an attraction for the whole family. Take a ride on the stylishly landscaped monorail for a magnificent view over the sand sculptures. The Sculpture Garden is open all year round except Sundays.

Cycling back to Garderen we then go through the beautiful Speulderbos, (Speulder- and Sprielderbos). You imagine yourself in another world here. I myself felt like I had landed on another planet. A very special experience. The forest is also called "forest of the dancing trees" because of the shape of the beech trees.

Slowly we descend to Landgoed Schovenhorst and we are almost at the end of this very beautiful and varied route.
