The Amstel Gold Race has not finished at the top of the Cauberg in Valkenburg since 2013. The finish line has been moved 1.8 kilometers further along, to exactly the same spot where the World Championships in cycling ended in 2012.
In the early phase, the peloton, after starting at the Markt in Maastricht, makes a loop towards Sittard and Geleen. The route then returns through Ubachsberg, Simpelveld, and Nijswiller towards the Heuvelland. Here, several iconic climbs are encountered, including the Loorberg and Camerig, before reaching the literal high point at the Drielandenpunt in Vaals. After this, the real finale begins, in which the climbs come thick and fast, such as the Eyserbosweg, Keutenberg, and the mythical Cauberg. Just like last year, the Amstel Gold Race promises to be a huge challenge for the riders and a spectacle for the public this year.
