Country estate Geijsteren and Boshuizerbergen

The circular hike begins in the beautiful little town of Geijsteren. The route leads along the Geijsters Vens to the nature reserve of the Geijsteren estate. Following a winding path along the Oostrumsche stream, we reach the watermill De Rosmolen. The hike continues to the Boshuizerbergen. A beautiful nature reserve with sand dunes, dune angles, lichens, pines, and a large juniper bush.
The route continues along forest paths to the St. Willibrordus Chapel with an old well. The chapel dates back to the 16th century. The hike then goes through deeper and wetter areas with marshy meadows. Remnants of an old meander of the Maas.
Through beautiful avenues and a short stretch of paved path, we reach Geijsteren Castle. The castle ruins date back to the 13th century. Through a gate, there is a path to the Maas, about 100 m further. From here, the hike returns to the village of Geijsteren, to the starting/ending point.
In summary, a wonderful and varied hike through nature, where you can see many birds and animals.

Starting/ending point at Dorpstraat 16 / Nieuwlandsestraat 1 in Geijsteren, but can also be accessed from the parking lot at Oostrumseweg 34 in Geijsteren.
