Ermita Virgen del Carmen - Puerto Santiago

This small chapel is next to Playa Chica.

In July, the Patron Saint Feasts in honor of Our Lady of Carmen are celebrated in PuertodeSantiago, which, as every year, offers a wide range of activities for all ages. The program includes fireworks and the boat procession of the Virgin as the most representative elements.

Mount Carmel in the Holy Land is mentioned in the Bible as the place where Elijah fought against the prophets of the idol Baal.

In the twelfth century, hermits were inspired by the faith of the prophet Elijah and settled on Mount Carmel, under the protection of the Blessed Virgin. They laid the foundation for the later orders of the Carmelites and Carmelites.
