The Kemmelberg is the highest hill in West Flanders. Some slopes on this route are quite challenging. At the top, a stunning view awaits each time. We cycle between vineyards and green quiet spots, between hills and picturesque villages, between brown cafés and bustling meeting places. The First World War is never far away here, with the Bayernwald in Wijtschate, from where the Germans could gaze at the besieged Ypres. In Mesen, we climb the Sint-Niklaas tower and enjoy a phenomenal view. The Belvédère on the Kemmelberg and the malt tower in Reningelst are also freely accessible. The Heuvelland cycling route is both versatile and varied, bringing us to the most unexpected places.
