A walk that begins with a drink by the babbling Abeek: it couldn't start better for a summer outing. At the historic Luysenmolen, hidden in the greenery of the De Luysen-Sint-Maartensheide nature reserve, you can first enjoy a coffee, local beer, or soft drink on the terrace. From there, this walk heads towards De Luysen, a nature reserve that is part of the larger Sint-Maartensheide-De Luysen area. The landscape in De Luysen is constantly changing. Sometimes you walk right by the water, with reed beds softly swaying in the wind. Moments later, the path leads through a greener and more enclosed landscape, where trees and bushes provide shade. The variety between open water, groves, fields, and meadows ensures that the walk never becomes monotonous.
