Ruins of a legendary abbey that was one of the largest and most influential religious foundations in Flanders in the Middle Ages; one of the most successful modern church buildings in Flanders; the 'Baaldjeskruus' in memory of Abbot Idesbaldus of the Ter Duinen Abbey; imaginative cottages that rose in the dunes in the first quarter of the 20th century; a strange chapel and a fisherman's cottage. In Koksijde, the hiker is introduced to a varied range of heritage.
