TRAIN HIKING ROUTE GREEN HEART OF LIMBURG
Limburg is a continuous chain of extensive nature areas. We make a hiking trip from station to station through the most beautiful Limburg nature.
This third stage starts at the small station of Zonhoven and almost immediately enters the Wijers. This beautiful contiguous area has 1200 ponds, together accounting for more than 700 ha of water and reeds. From the observation tower at the Kleine Vijver, you get an overview of the entire area, which we then cross through. We cross the Albert Canal via the elegant new bridge of Stokrooie, then cross the Demer and enter the Herkenrode nature reserve. We walk through the impressive abbey site, explore the charming village center of Kuringen, and ultimately reach the station of Hasselt.

1. From Genk through De Maten to Bokrijk
2. From Bokrijk through Kiewit and De Wijers to Zonhoven
3. From Zonhoven through De Wijers and Herkenrode to Hasselt
