Lindwerder, also known as Gatower Lindwerder, is an island located in the part of the Havelseen belonging to the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf.
The oval island of Lindwerder, which is 2.2 hectares in size, is the remnant of a glacial moraine plateau that was once about three times larger. It lies about 200 meters from the eastern shore of the Havel near Grunewald, between the Lieper Bay to the north and the small Steinlanke to the south. The names Lipa and Lanke testify to the earlier Slavic settlement of southwest Berlin. The lime tree is still the most common tree on Lindwerder today, with 56 specimens.
