Rehberger Graben to Oderteich

The winter hiking trail starts on the opposite side of the Dreibrode parking lot. From there, you quickly reach a trail junction where the water of the Rehberger trench meets that of the Sonnenberger trench. You continue along the Rehberger trench until you reach the National Park Forest Inn "Rehberger Grabenhaus". On certain days and times, you can watch the feeding of the deer here. In addition, you can learn more about the "Oberharzer Wasserwirtschaft" through a small exhibition.
Your hike then takes you further through a high forest. At some points, you can enjoy lovely views down into the Odertal valley or to the Hahnenklee cliffs. Numerous information boards explain the history of the trench system, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
You continue hiking along the Rehberger trench to Goetheplatz, where you can see beautiful granite formations. After passing by small waterfalls and arriving at the Sarghai Hut, you reach your destination, the Oderteich. The Oderteich was built between 1715 and 1722 and is the oldest reservoir in the Harz region, also part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Oberharzer Wasserwirtschaft".
