Sanctuary of the Virgin of Queralt

The Sanctuary is located high on the Sierra de Queralt, at an altitude of 1200 meters. Due to its peculiar location, it has been called the "balcony of Catalonia."
The breadth of its landscape and the sensations it provokes justify climbing to Queralt. The place where today the sanctuary stands corresponds, it seems, to the space that the castle of Guillem de Berguedà would have occupied.
The Queralt complex includes the Sanctuary where the image of the Virgin of Queralt is venerated and a notable adjoining building that once housed the Sanctuary's inn, where today the restaurant and the station of the inclined funicular accessing from the parking lots are located. We must also consider as part of the Sanctuary the church of La Cueva where, according to legend, the image of the Virgin was found.
