This is an epic ride, for riders in very good shape, taking in one of Girona's classic climbs, the 18.5km long Mare de Deu del Mont. MDDDM is difficult because of its length, though is relatively steady in terms of gradient (but the last 2km are very steep!) This route is a full day out riding, and takes in the beautiful lake at Banyoles on the way back - ideal for a lunch/dinner/coffee/beer before the easy cruise back to Girona. There is a sculpture of Jacint Verdaguer overlooking the snowy Pyrenees Mountains, and a restaurant / café at the top, with a wonderful terrace looking out over the Garrotxa mountains, all the way to the Costa Brava.
