Rieti, antiguamente llamada Reate, es una ciudad de Italia, capital de la provincia de Rieti , en la región de Lacio. La tradición histórica la ha considerado el Umbilicus Italiae o centro de Italia, ya desde la época de los antiguos romanos, aunque esto no sea geográficamente exacto. Se encuentra en la fértil llanura de Reatina en las laderas del monte Terminillo, a orillas del río Velino, en un territorio rico en agua potable que suministra a la capital.
