Many elevation meters in the Ardennes

This route runs on both sides of the Amblève river, roughly between Stavelot and Remouchamps. In my opinion, this is, together with part of Luxembourg, the part of the Ardennes offering the greatest challenges to climbers . A large number of elevation meters are conquered along the way (2810), especially considering the length of the ride (116 kilometers), and this route will therefore demand a considerable effort from many race bikers. The tour runs roughly through the same area as another, similar tour (with even more elevation meters) but in the opposite direction. As a result, only a small number of ascents are climbed in both rides, including the two toughest ones of the tour proposed here (the Thier de Coo and the Stockeu).

The landscape in this climbers paradise is beautiful, somewhat rougher in the higher parts, somewhat more lovely below, with a lot of variation of forests, fields and meadows. The roads are almost all quiet or very quiet.

During this ride the following côtes are conquered: Sur le Thier, Hautregard-west, Rosier-north, Thier de Coo, Stockeu, part of Wèrhai, Les Quartiers, Ancienne Barrière-southeast, Chevron, Lorcé, Parc Artisanale de Harzé-northwest and Sprimont.
