The red route starts in the center of Paal and leads you through quiet village streets to the edge of the Valley of the Black Brook. During your walk, you will discover some typical regional elements such as sunken roads - with their characteristic vegetation - and hillforts. Be sure to enjoy the views from the hills. Along the way, you pass the Gestelse Mill. This is an old watermill on the Black Brook (currently privately owned). Here, you can briefly deviate from the route to take a look at a part of the Valley of the Black Brook that is managed by Natuurpunt. The route does not pass through a nature area, which means you will encounter paved roads more often than in our other walking areas. These are usually quiet backroads. At Langheidestraat, you can extend your journey with the walking routes over the Venusberg for a more extensive experience of the hillforts.
