AzureNature reserve Thiewinkel is located in the westernmost part of the Laambeek valley, on the border of the municipalities of Lummen, Hasselt and Heusden-Zolder. The area is cut in two by the E313. The part west of this highway is a characteristic cultural landscape with ponds, wood edges, coniferous forests and moist forests. The part east of the highway, better known as the Groene Delle, consists mainly of forest. The nature reserve is managed by nature association Limburgs Landschap vzw.
