Parking at the church of Melle, Dorpsplein, and starting via the bridge over the Scheldt to the Kalverbos. Paths of Slow Roads and MTB routes and paths that were still unknown to me.
Just over the bridge on the right side, you can go down via a staircase, turn right under the bridge, and take the first path on the right.
The Kalverbos nature reserve is an area that was formerly flooded by the Zeeschelde. Due to the construction of the Ringvaart and the building of the dikes, a nature area was created, part of which was raised with dredged silt. The old sand extraction pit is now a pond with various water birds that can be spotted behind an observation wall.
