Bouillon is a tourist center; in the summer there is a lot of camping tourism along the river Semois, which snakes around the old town center. The town is dominated by the medieval castle of Godfrey of Bouillon. This is located near the Semois. This castle originated in the 8th century. At the end of the eleventh century (1082), Godfrey of Bouillon sold the castle to the prince-bishop of Liège for 3 golden marks and 1300 silver marks. With that money, he wants to finance his contribution to the first crusade.
