Stroll along the ancient Smis of Mekingen. In 't Oud Smis van Mekingen, there is still the comfort of the past. Officially, the coffee from 1847 exists, but perhaps the coffee is even older. Here you will be served by the 5th generation café owner. Until the mid-fifties, a forge was attached to the café. A grocery store lasted until the nineties. It is the beating heart of the hamlet of Mekingen. The gelagzaal looks a lot like a living room with a stove in the middle. The gueuze and kriek are still collected here one by one in the cellar. It could hardly be more popular than 't Oud Smis van Mekingen. On weekends there are many cyclists and walkers on the ground. The café is located along a GR road. Definitely a unique place in East Pajottenland. Coffee was also included in the list of the hundred strongest coffees in Flanders.
