Walcourt, located on a rocky mountain top between l’Eau d’Heure and l’Eau d’Yves, is a fortified town whose first traces date back to the 10th century. Through the walk, you will discover the old city walls, doors, alleyways, and lookout towers, as well as the craft activities linked to the mill. The basilica of Saint-Materne, recognizable by its bulbous clock, is a remarkable Gothic monument. After passing the washing place 'des Quairelles', you will see the Navarre and Fiernet mills emerge. Behind the building, there is still a waterwheel. The ruelle Frère Hugo, in turn, owes its name to a monk-goldsmith, born in Walcourt in the 12th century.
