Climbing route from La Roche

This route takes you through the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. The 97 kilometre long tour includes a considerable number of elevation meters (2010) thanks to a large number of climbs. One of these clearly stands out above the rest, namely the climb from La Roche to the Haussire via the Rue de Gohette, the toughest climb in the Ardennes with 311 metres of elevation gain and a steepest section of 300 metres at 13.5%. Start and end of the trip are in La Roche-en-Ardenne, but halfway the route passes through this town again, so the route looks butterfly-shaped on the map. The ascent to the Haussire lies just after the passage through La Roche halfway the tour. La Roche is busy with numerous facilities for the many tourists, but outside la Roche the roads are mostly quiet, so you can enjoy the beautiful landscape with a pleasant alternation of forests, meadows and fields. I found the part of the tour around Chéoux and Waharday (after about 20 kilometres of cycling) the most beautiful.
