The Romans left their mark not only on the city center of Tongeren. Even in the wider surroundings, you can still find traces in the landscape from Roman times. A seemingly natural ridge (the Beukenberg) that you walk over is a monumental earthen structure that was part of the aqueduct that provided the Roman city of Tongeren with water. You pass a Roman burial mound and remnants of the city walls from the 2nd century. Additionally, the castle domain of Betho is on the agenda, and you walk through characteristic Haspengouw landscapes with rolling fields, meadows, orchards, and sunken roads.
