Descrizione dall'autore

Dodentocht Bornem is a well-known 100km loop for hikers, with the intention of covering this distance between a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 24 hours.
This loop is walked/walked around the beginning of August. The departure time is between 21:00h and 21:30h in the evening. More than 10,000 people will leave
More information can be found here: http://www.dodentocht.be/

For the people who dread the 100km: the actual distance is actually slightly smaller (97.5km, with a second start after 1.3km, a few hours later -see below-). For the recreational runners, the distance to be walked on 1 piece is therefore just over 96km.

The GPX shown here is an EXACT COPY from the first start (there are 2 in a row with a time span of 3 hours ertusen ) to the finish.

Below is my story as a runner:
HOW TO START WELL?
This is highly questionable whether you want to walk the loop - race walk - walk.
If you are in the latter group, remember that there are several electronic recordings placed along the way where you will be stopped if you are currently running faster than 10 km / h. It is a recreational event and the competition element is really not appropriate and is completely excluded. But that's a good thing.

The actual starting point of this death march is north of the Absceldstraat at the sports hall (street without a name). There are the barriers where everyone is stopped. If you are a hiker, it does not make much difference when you arrive there. If you want to walk the loop, it is advisable to be there at the latest at 6 pm: 3 hours before departure!

At 6 p.m. the gates are opened, you first go south, turn right into Absveldstraat, and then turn right back into Sint-Amandsesteenweg. Just before the Kruisberg (street coming from the right) barriers have been placed again. You have already covered 1.3km of the 100km, but you still have to wait until 21h for the further start: Why? Due to the many participants, this creates a sas over this first 1.3km, so that the queue to the 2nd start can go smoothly.
The first electronic measurement is also done at this location.

The start on this first stop is as follows:
At 9 p.m., the Anciens are allowed to leave: these are the people who have participated in the death march many times.
After that, the disabled are allowed to leave. A slightly modified course has been mapped out for them, and they are given time to cover the necessary distance without any problems.
After that, a double row of struise firefighters from Bornem line up at the crowd gates. These gates are then opened and everyone can't help but step behind these Firefighters for a while. This walking is mandatory through the entire Boomstraat to the Kasteelstraat (just past the Kardinaal Cardijnpleijn). The Firemen follow the Kasteelstraat, and from there (520 meters further) you can start walking in front, straight ahead into the Temsesteenweg.

Once you enter the Scheldt (after a good 15 minutes) the running groups are already well spread. There is no point in running too fast because in the next electronic recording mode you will always be stopped if you run faster than 10km/h. So save your running energy for the heavier half of the loop....

Usually you also only have a ravitaling post for drinks and rice cake etc. AFTER each electronic meter reading. So if you run too fast than 10km/h, you can use your own drink or energy bars at the mandatory stop before the meter reading and stretch for a while, but only after the meter reading can you effectively refuel when your own provisions are used up...

After about 13.5 walking kilometers, you take the Boomstraat in a southerly direction in Boom, now walking for the first time. Atmosphere and ambiance everywhere (by the way, also at every passage of a village center ogf hamlet. It's a wonderful feeling throughout the process;

When you encounter the Scheldt a 2nd time (then upstream) you are almost always on your own; The thinning is such that you only notice runners far in front of you or behind you. If you can follow the pace in a group without too heavy consequences, you can use it. But beware: don't overestimate: you have only done 18 km (not yet 1/5th of the loop) and you still have to go through a lot of forests, field paths, and other slow unpaved roads.

AFTER 27 kilometres of walking you will reach the Charleroi-Brussels-Wintam sea canal, which you will follow to Ruusbroek.

After 38 km you are in the location Duvel-Moortgat; This is just past 1/3rd of the loop....

After 48.5km you pass at Brewery Palm, this is kwasie halfway. If you can walk half and no injuries, then it is possible to run double, at least usually no faster than up to the Palm Brewery. From here, it usually hurt everything. Drink enough and absorb fast carbohydrates (sugars).
After each drink passage I walked a 100m to take in enough. Every time it restarted to a running rhythm, everything hurt. Death march for something... Bringing in a steady rhythm over and over again is the best way to get to the finish line.

At the last contact with the Scheldt you have 86km on it, and you have to give the courage to continue. At the last proviant (under branst on the Scheldt you have the last 10km to go
The last km is a third time through the Boomstraat, back in a northerly direction. At the very end, at the Kardinaal Cardijnplein (where the registrations and the collection of the numbers are, you have the finish on the west side of the tent.

Good luck!
