Streuvelsroute

Stijn Strevel's real name was Frank Lateur, who worked and lived in the Leie region until his death in 1969. In tribute to the achievements of this famous Flemish novelist, a route of cars and motorcycles was named after him.

The road from Streuvels starts in Kortrijk and from there the route takes you through Kuurne, Harelbeke, Deerlijk, Anzegem and Avelgem and even across the border with East Flanders and Hainaut. Along the way, you will explore the hilly area of this south-eastern corner of West Flanders, characteristic of the area between the Leie and Scheldt.

You drive on wide ridges and through gently sloping valleys, which offer plenty of variety in this agricultural region where beautiful views appear several times on the horizon. The return route of this route takes you along the Bossuit-Kortrijk canal to Zwevegem; this canal is located in the south of West Flanders and connects the Scheldt at Bossuit to the Leie at Kortrijk.
