Grimberg Green Marathon

This Grimberg Green Marathon is a loop in clockwork sense of 42.2km (26Mi) in and around the best parts and sights of Grimbergen. Large parts of this natural loop are unpaved (80%). Keep this in mind: you are sitting in the middle of nature without car traffic. It is suitable for walkers, runners and recreational cyclists.
The starting point is at the entrance of the Prinsenkasteel in the Prinsenbos. The arrival point is at the entrance of the Basilica of Saint Servatius. Not coincidentally, two important historical buildings.

The GPX has been designed so that most of the sloping parts are covered during the first 15 km. Afterwards there is a flat section along rural paths and low-traffic green roads. Because the arrival is in Grimbergen center, the last kilometers back are steeply sloping.

This loop can be started at any other place (the walking distance between the original departure point and arrival point – via the Prinsenstraat, Pastoor Woutersstraat, Parking and the Prinsenbos is km).

You can of course shorten the marthon length into smaller pieces. Then first look at the many beautiful POIs with photos, and select which area you want to admire!

You can also cycle all or part of it, a road bike is not recommended for the passage through the large parts. A recreational bike is possible, but sometimes getting off is better for safety. Mountain bikes can really indulge themselves on certain parts.
