The park forest is starting to gain some volume and playground equipment and picnic tables have also been installed in the meantime.

Zwijnaarde, a district of Ghent, does not owe its name to piglets but to 'suin or zwin', meaning creeks or marshy lands along the Scheldt. The oldest mention 'Suinarda' dates from around 1088. The walk goes via Slow Paths (with many tiled paths), the towpath, and several green areas such as the neighborhood park Hekers (a park with a central open grass field for organizing neighborhood activities), the Zwijntjesbos (birth forest and play forest, which is still under development but work is planned for 2021), Zonneput (old Scheldt arm), Wijndomein Waes (yes, vineyards along the Scheldt) past the back of the Castle of Zwijnaarde (present since the 15th century but destroyed twice, during the Iconoclast Fury in 1578 and World War I in 1918, and rebuilt each time, the last time in 1922). The starting point has a view of the front of the castle. Along the way, we pass Park de Ghellinck, not yet accessible to the public, but with the purchase by the Agency for Nature and Forest (in 1918), a piece of public green space can be added. Domaine de Ghellinck was an ammunition depot during World War II but was detonated in 1944 and there is said to still be ammunition left in the woods. Park at the cemetery of Zwijnaarde in Joachim Schayckstraat and depart via Prelaatsdreef.
