15km, Blossom route, From Time-out along the orchards!

Hello, here we go for a nice trip through Zussen!

We start with our backs to the door of the Church. We walk straight ahead to the misweg, right and back to the left.
We walk a bit on the marl road and turn left at the T intersection. We walk down Waterstraat past our bike shed on the right side.
This is a used sea container finished with cladding boards, perfectly lockable.
Further on is a sloping path to the fire pit.

We then come to a field track with 2 concrete strips.
On the left is a training area for horses with a cart. Oval racetrack.
Trotting sport where horses pull a light sulky and may only trot.
The Pikeur (driver) sits in the sulky. Tongeren has such a racetrack.

We follow to the right, turning. Meanwhile, we pass a few old mushroom farms.
They started growing mushrooms in the marl caves earlier.
At that time, this area was known for it, later they also started growing above ground.
Now only a few are still active, there is even one that you can visit.

At the intersection, we take a slight right turn, and at the Y fork, we keep left onto a field path.
On the right side, we see an iron cross, you also walk behind the castle of Sint Pieter.
19th-century mansion located in a park, connected to the street by an avenue of beech and horse chestnut trees.

You come to a five-way junction with a small chapel.
Take a right here via Kleuzenstraat and take almost a 180° left at the intersection.
You walk into the field via Sint-Genoveastraat. Then you turn right at the next T.
Then on the 2^nd field road to the right, further on the strange intersection take a quick right and immediately left.
You walk gently downhill and return to the village, take a right at the first intersection.
Before the intersection, you encountered an orchard on your left.
Nets are placed above to protect against possible hail damage.

On Kalderstraat, take the first right, left and walk towards the playground.
Via Burgemeester Wiricius Vosplein, exit the neighborhood, then go left and again right.
You then continue further on Kalderstraat.
At the Y by the square, take a left, immediately back right along the school to Time-Out.
Don't forget to take a moment to admire the impressive Church, the Sint-Genovevakerk!
Church built with marlstone that was dug from quarries underground here.
It is in those tunnels/quarries that mushroom cultivation took place.
