This hike is the first stage of Tour du Val d'Hérens and provides impressive views of the Grande Dixence dam, the tallest concrete dam wall in the world, and of the snowclad summit of the Val des Dix reaching to over 3,500m. Set out from Thyon – Les Collons at around 1900m in the direction of the Grande Dixence dam and follow the itinerary of the Thyon-Dixence foot race. On the way you will find the magnificent Essertes peat bogs. The Dix Valley is visible the entire way.
