Olbersdorf is a Saxon municipality in the district of Görlitz. It is the administrative seat of the Olbersdorf administrative community. Olbersdorf is located south of Zittau at the foot of the Zittau Mountains. After the unit municipalities Kottmar, Großschönau, and Oderwitz, which consist of several districts, Olbersdorf is the fourth largest non-urban municipality in the Görlitz district and thus the largest non-urban locality in the district.
Regionally, Olbersdorf is known for hosting sports events, such as the Zittau Mountain Run or the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championship 2014 at Lake Olbersdorf. In 2015, the German Championships in Cross Triathlon were once again held in Olbersdorf.
