Windhagen

Windhagen is a municipality in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate and is located directly on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia. It belongs to the administrative community of Asbach.

The municipality of Windhagen is situated on the Asbach plateau at the transition from the Siebengebirge to the Westerwald, which extends to the east, directly on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia. The village extends southeast of Dachsberg on the northern side of a ridge and includes elevations between 258 m above sea level (NHN) and 322 m above sea level (NHN). Parts of the municipality are located in the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park. The highest point of land is just under 322 m above sea level (NHN) in the district of Vierwinden, which belongs to the main town of Windhagen, while the lowest point reaches 165 m above sea level (NHN) at the eastern exit of the Hallerbach, which is also referred to as Elsaffer Bach, from the cadastral area.
