The Riegelstein Castle ruin is a former high medieval noble castle located north of the Kirchdorf Riegelstein, which belongs to the city of Betzenstein, in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth in Bavaria, Germany. Only two ditches and a few unsecured remnants of walls from the collapsed ridge castle remain, which are threatened with complete disappearance.
The castle ruin is situated in the southeastern Franconian Switzerland, a part of the Franconian Jura, at the highest point of the Riegelstein castle hill at 589 m above NHN. The ruins are about 360 meters north-northeast of the Protestant Lutheran branch church of St. George in Riegelstein, the former Raupersdorf, and about 32 kilometers northeast of Nuremberg.
