Luttern's harrow

The Lutternsche Egge is a pass in the eastern Wiehen Mountains and connects the East Westphalian community of Hille with the southern town of Bad Oeynhausen. The road over this pass is the district road 30 of the Minden-Lübbecke district.

500 metres east of the pass is the mountain peak of the Wiehen Mountains, the Lutternsche Egge. District road 30, one of the few roads that passes through the eastern Wiehen Mountains, runs over the pass. The road runs, rather unusually for the northwestern German region, serpentine-like, partly with 180-degree bends - the road within the forest is 2,500 meters long, although the beeline between the edges of the forest is only 900 meters here. The top of the pass is 225 metres above sea level. It connects the village of Volmerdingsen south of the mountains via Luttern with the Landesstraße 876 north of the Wiehengebirge. At the top of the pass at the Lutternsche Egge is the "Berghotel Lutternsche Egge" in the former youth hostel.
In 1998, Wiehenvenator, the largest known predatory dinosaur in Central Europe, was discovered in a disused limestone quarry near the pass.
